BROLGA X MELB CENTRAL

Australian artist Brolga held a larger than life inflatable art exhibition at Melbourne Central Clock tower throughout the festive season. Brolga, notorious for his large scale artworks through wheat paste street art, and pop coloured murals which came to life in the streets of New York City. His graphic style has gained him commercial success with clients such as Nike, New York Times, Oppo and more.

We were engaged by Dot Dot Dash to design and produce gallery quality, gift shop merchandise for shoppers to redeem and collect at the Melbourne Central Pop Up stall below the iconic shot tower for Brolga’s inflatable exhibition.

The extensive merchandise collection was inspired by the hero of the exhibition Ernie and the patterns within his clothing.
Ernie was featured over a range of 20 products such as:

Two t-shirts and hoodies were designed featuring Ernie and Flower motifs. Puff prints were added to the clothing patterns providing a inflatable-esque representation.

Custom oversize fits for both hoodie and tees were developed exclusively for this range with custom tags and labelling.

Shoppers at Melbourne Central were invited to the Brolga pop-up store to redeem their free limited edition merch. Depending on their spend it unlocked different tiers of products available.

We produced an oversized 12oz denim tote bag, featuring a large iron on transfer of Ernie and a keyring loop.

Internal pockets added an additional element to brand the Brolga X Melbourne Central collaboration.

 

In conjunction with the spend rewards we also produced a range of smaller products to be given out as a lucky dip.

These included an banana scented Ernie car air-freshener, Ernie lenticular postcard, Ernie Iron on patches and Ernie and Flower pencil and eraser sets.

Using original artwork mockups, we collated 3 images to create a lenticular postcard of Ernie in various Melbourne Central locations.

We produced four hats for the pop up store.

Three low profile caps featured patches of Ernie and embroidered flower details. Available in black, blue and cream.

The reversible bucket hat features denim on one side with an embroidered patch of Ernie. The reversible side is 100% terry cotton with a repeat flower embroidered pattern.

Three sock designs were developed featuring the patterns and flowers that were influenced from Ernie’s clothing.

Both business and sport socks were produced.

A moulded aluminium clutter tray was designed that features a repeat pattern and Ernie illustration.

12oz enamel camping mugs which feature an Ernie graphic and Brolga x Melbourne Central logo.

The bottle openers and keyrings were enamel filled custom moulds with embossed logos.

We drew inspiration for the bottle opener from this illustrated photograph of Ernie.
