WILD LIFE PACKAGING
Wild Life Bakery, a renowned bakery located in Brunswick East, required a custom packaging solution for their hot cross buns and single cakes.
The boxes were designed to be bold and unique, that reflects their brand identity and features some architectural design elements from their cafe.
The project was a collaboration between Jac And (graphic design) and Contain (structural design) to design and produce these functional and aesthetically pleasing packaging for their takeaway items.
Throughout the ideation stage for Wild Life, we were to conceptualize the packaging that reflects the brand's values. Several rounds of designs were idealised and mockups products to ensure the final design was both functional, fast to assemble and looked good. The packaging had to be durable enough to hold hot cross buns and cakes without causing any damage or compromising the quality of the products.
The box featured a crash lock bottom for easy assembly and printing double-sided orange with emboss detailing.
In Wild Life’s commitment to sustainable packaging, the Hot Cross Bun box was printed on 325gsm Zenith Paper, a food safe packaging board which is fully kerbside recyclable, biodegradable and compostable.
The hot cross bun box was structurally designed using shapes that referenced the bakery's branding and bakery interior. The custom size allowed Wild Life’s hot cross buns to be held securely in place.
The single cake box was designed to be flat packed to reduce storage requirements, and be quick to assemble. The front flap fold-outs, allowing the cake to be easily added without toppling. The box was produced from a 405gsm Koala Kraft board with 3 hits of white, providing a sturdy and durable packaging box with a bold branded logo.
The tab lock was designed to close the box easily, while securing the front flap closed.
The success of the project demonstrated the importance of collaboration and the benefits of a custom packaging solution for increasing brand recognition and enhancing customer experience.
