Up provides Australians with the easy task of saving and banking everyday. The digital bank provides tools for everyone to achieve their banking goals whether it’s applying for a home loan, splitting bills, or having financial literacy.

The modern banking app assists with making the mundane tasks fun. Up explores creative marketing and activations across Australia to help Aussies bank smarter not harder.

In collaboration with Up, Contain have produced merchandise for numerous banking activations and digital product releases.

Zap - The Up character was applied across several products and projects in our continued merchandise partnership.

Merchandise Design

Up High is a new subscription based feature by Up, aimed at power users who want to elevate their banking game.

As part of their Early Access launch, customers are given access to new features in-app, as well as limited edition Up High merch designed by Up's Art Department and produced by us.

The Cooler bag includes two insulated pockets, one houses your lunch or up to 6 cans, and the base for an ice pack, keeping your drinks cool from the bottom - Up.

Based on one of Contain’s cooler bags from our adventure range, but supercharged. Up’s cooler bag features an additional pocket for your phone and keys. The bag is constructed from cotton canvas, lined with 3mm foil and grey EVA for insulation.

 
 
 

In the sky high colours, the 100% Cotton cooler features embroidered logo on the top, and clouds on the back of the bag. The design features pops of Up’s fluoro orange with tag, zipper pulls and handle closure.

The 5 panel Up High cap is made from cotton twill heavy with 3D embroidery and custom internal binding.
The cap uses an adjustable nylon webbing strap and quick release closure. Four white metal eyelets are used on both sides of the cap for ventilation.

 

Easy Living nylon caps were produced for an Up activation held at For the Love festival in both Melbourne and the Gold Coast.
Made from recycled nylon with a two colour screen print, featuring a snap back closure in a contrast yellow. The swing tags were letterpress printed by Taylor’d Press.

The caps were given to guests at the Up Easy Living Zone.

Night Trade presented by Up Banking was held at St Pauls Cathedral car park in the Melbourne CBD. The Night trade event was a part of Melbourne’s Winter Festival Program - Rising.

Dj’s and performances were curated by Waxo Paradiso and it was a free event that ran for the entire duration of Rising Festival.

100% cotton beanies in an orange colour with neon tags were produced for attendees to keep their heads warm during Melbourne’s Winter.

The 100% cotton beanies feature an embroidered EASY logo, and an UP woven label.

A limited edition run of yellow cotton beanies were also produced for VIPs at the Night Trade event. These featured a wider gauge knit.

Up Home is designed to guide customers on their journey to home ownership and beyond. From saving, to buying and applying, Up have reimagined every step to be simple.

In collaboration with Up, we worked on the product range, bespoke development and packaging concepts. The welcome pack was designed to include gifts that are useful around the house for any new home owner taking out a home loan with Up.

The range included a bespoke Apron, Tea Towel, Market tote and a bottle opener designed around the Up character Zap.

The Up Home apron is crafted from 14oz cotton canvas and features dual front pockets for added convenience. Bar tack stitching is applied for extra reinforcement in high-stress areas.

The Up Home logo is embroidered at the centre of the chest. The apron utilises cotton canvas fabric for its waist ties and is equipped with an adjustable neck strap featuring a silver slider.

A fluoro orange Pantone 803C was achieved for the printing.

100% French flax linen tea towels in lemon yellow, featuring a two colour print of Zap’s dream mansion and a neon orange webbed tag for hanging purposes.

 

The oversized market tote for Up Home was designed for the owners first grocery shop, or overnight bag.

The bag features a zipper closure, wine bottle pocket, an internal zipper pocket, and a woven branded exterior label.

 
 

Throughout the sampling stage we tested various colour options, embroidery and woven tags to perfect the right colour combinations and accessories for the final production.

The Zap icon lent itself so well to a bottle opener. With a small adjustment to the mouth we designed Zap to have a bottle opener mouth, and incorporated magnets in the tooling. Perfect for that new home feel.

The Zap bottle opener is made from stainless steel, with two colour epoxy fills. The back of the bottle opener has a blind recessed logo and two magnets.
