SCHULZ ORGANIC DAIRY
Schulz Organic Dairy saw an opportunity to solidify its presence in the market and tackle the war on waste by bringing back, what was once an industry standard in the 80’s and 90’s, MILK IN GLASS.
A collaboration between Schulz Organic Dairy, Swear Words and Contain Design Studio, we were asked to design a custom 1 litre glass milk bottle that was reusable and returnable.
Through a successful crowdfunding campaign and backing from 1182 supporters, this allowed Schulz to invest in the infrastructure and first bottle production to make Milk in Glass a reality.

What we did
Glass Bottle Design
Bottle Sampling & Production
We incorporated the branding into the glass mould through embossing and debossing, a first within the Australian market.
The bottle design itself has scalloped edges, making it ergonomically easy to hold, the design of a 3-start thread to work with the automatic cap feed which ensures the caps screwed on straight to prevent milk spoiling.
In its first year of the Milk in Glass in circulation Schulz saved 7,600 kg of plastic (that’s equivalent to 8 Volkswagon Beetles), they had a return rate of 95% and each bottle was refilled 7 times (on average).
